"Your death do us part" is a novella published in 2009 and signed by French writer Antoine Lencou.
Roin Venkoo is a man ill at ease and in his time. Married to Olcéana Xinava, a fashion fantasy and egocentric, he leads a life without pleasure in this world partitioned where the men served by machines and androids are homebound, working from home and communicating primarily through communication networks. Religions have disappeared under the weight of the promise of eternal life and since the Women's Forum Family disapproves of pregnancy, the birth rate is dropping.
Alienated by the corporation governed by a permanent virtuality, Roin decides to file a petition with the Department of suicides.
But his desire to end his life faces an unsympathetic administration which does not give him an appointment in 6 months.

Roin chooses to be assigned to the Administration of the Dead. Although deaths still occur, souls are stored on magnetic media and can be replanted in a body if necessary. The mission Roine is to identify duplicates and delete them.
But after a few days the young man finds a flaw in the system ...

Driven by an exaggerated individualism, men live in apartments in autarky but minimalist modular to wish that contain everything necessary for a life of public assistance. Who would not want to be massaged by a cushion that holds out his arms or be offered any refreshments for his coffee table?
Clearly more human than other people of his kind, Roin is misunderstood, and a sensitive soul who thought that idleness is not enough. Unlike others, he likes to go to work and take the air to admire the outside world.
Yet since his salon Roin will rely on a table and a cushion spy hacker investigate and prove the fallibility of the system in place, a system that has made death its goodwill.

Although in my reading, I felt like a taste already read / seen (I thinking particularly of the works of Orwell and Wells, all bathed in a Kafkaesque absurdity all), I found the plot coherent and the characters very well brushed and most importantly, I enjoyed seeing the excesses of our society (overcrowding, pollution, maximum profitability, mechanization services, the virtual invasion ,...) submitted to the imagination pen and sharp and often funny Antoine Lencou!
